What is the Esther’s Fund Project?
Have you ever wanted to adopt or foster a senior rescue dog and just can’t seem to get the rest of the family on board? The good news is, there are other ways to help directly!
Senior dogs are WONDERFUL because of their consistent personalities and their calm demeanor. However, we routinely see them as owner surrenders in shelters or dumped on the streets as strays because their owners no longer wanted to care for their aging friend or they are too old to be used for breeding. They sit in the shelters and wait while hundreds of people pass by their kennel every day, not a single interest, because most people want the cute puppy or the young happy dog. We want to give these seniors a chance to live out their golden years.
The reality is most senior dogs will almost inevitably rack up some substantial medical expenses. A lot of families who do have the heart to bring home a senior dog do not have the finances to afford it. Most vet health insurance companies will not insure a senior dog.
How can I help?!
Under the Esther’s Fund Project, you can help a specific senior dog in our program. It requires a donation of as low $15 a month, you can sponsor the senior dog of your choice. Where does the money go? Well, towards the following:
- $35/month for eye medication
- $45/month for good quality senior dog food
- $20/month for bone and joint supplements
- $60 one-time fee for an ortho dog bed (for those tired joints)
Sounds do-able, right? It sounds like a lot for one person, but if the village helps, it is so doable!
When you donate, just specify “Esther’s Fund” and the name of the dog you want to sponsor.
